NJACT Newsletter

My Dear Friends!

I am sure by now some of you may have heard rumors that something exciting was on the horizon for the 44th Annual Perry Awards. As one thing ends so another begins and we will not be returning to the DoubleTree in Somerset. We had a great run and we thank them for being our home for 13 years.

We are very excited to announce that on Sunday, September 17, 2017, we will move into our new home at the Union County Performing Arts Center at 1601 Irving Street, Rahway NJ 07065.

Before this decision was finalized, I used Google Maps from 3 different theaters (1 South West, 1 South East and 1 South...South) and using the address of both the DoubleTree and UCPAC,  places them within a 2 minute differential from each other.  UCPAC is within 5 minutes from the Garden State Parkway and easily accessible from the NJ Turnpike.  In addition, UCPAC is 3 blocks from the NE Corridor/NJ Coast Line station for NJ Transit.

More importantly, we will be able to lower the price to a more manageable cost for NJACT and you!

YES! We are working with a local catering company to have a fantastic selection for the cocktail hour which will be from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm

YES! There is a free public lot around the corner, street parking and a pay parking garage within 4 blocks from the theater.

We are looking at 2 different hotels within minutes of UCPAC who will be giving us a discounted rate on rooms and keep the bar open for post-awards festivities. Not to mention the many amazing restaurants right there in Downtown Rahway should you wish to go off on your own after the Awards.

HOW WILL WE GET OUR TICKETS? (We think you will really like this part!)
YOU get to pick where you and your friends sit! Ticketing will be done through the UCPAC website so all you have to do is select your seats, enter your CC # and you are done!

In addition to all those benefits, the UCPAC is a beautiful theater built in 1928 and is perfectly equipped to host the 44th Annual Perry Awards! Imagine your musical number performing on a huge stage in a 1300 seat house!

Think of how amazing you will look accepting your Perry in front of the stunning Grand Drape!

Think about how much earlier we will be done without people having to hurdle a dozen banquet tables to get the podium and a 30-minute intermission!!

One logistical issue for those of you that like to cross your fingers and plan ahead. The orchestra rehearsal for the nominated musical numbers will be held Saturday morning on September 16th. Now you don't have to worry if you are in a Sunday matinee or wonder what to do for the 4 hours between your rehearsal and the Ceremony.

This brings me to the Nomination Ceremony.
On Saturday, July 29, 2017, UCPAC/Hamilton Stages will be hosting a light brunch, our business meeting and the reading of the Nominations.
Doors will open at 11:00 am, Business Meeting at 12:00 pm and Nominations read at approximately 12:45 pm.

The address is 360 Hamilton Street, Rahway NJ 07065. Admission is $5.00. There will be several amazing prizes being raffled off including ticket giveaway for the 44th Annual Perry Awards.

I hope you are all excited for this new chapter in the NJACT Book and I look forward to seeing you all at the Nomination Ceremony in July and the Awards Ceremony in September!
